Pierre Fabre Dermo-Cosmetics and MÊME announce the signing of a partnership as of January 1, 2018. Within the framework of this partnership, Pierre Fabre Dermo-Cosmetics, subsidiary of the Pierre Fabre group, is the second investor to buy stakes in the start-up, following Otium Brands in 2016. Motivated by a shared passion and exacting nature, Pierre Fabre Dermo-Cosmetics and MÊME decided to pool their skills to improve the quality of life of cancer patients.
A meaningful partnership, a human encounter, a true alliance
Pierre Fabre Dermo-Cosmetics (PFDC) was founded by Mr. Pierre Fabre, a pharmacist, outstanding entrepreneur and great humanist, and the first person to understand the intrinsic relation between health and the beauty of the skin. PFDC's mission is to enable individuals to look after their skin and their hair in the long term to feel better about themselves, using adapted and safe care products that work.
As a result of their own personal experiences in supporting women very close to them through their battle against cancer, 26-year-olds Judith Levy and Juliette Couturier decided to create MÊME. Formulated in collaboration with oncologists and dermatologists, the range was tested and approved during a large-scale clinical trial, and developed based on the belief that the more feminine you feel, the higher your self-esteem and the more ready you are to fight against the disease.
MÊME is a new label that is unwaveringly positive and embodies femininity, enjoyment and gentleness.
The partnership between MÊME and PFDC relies in particular on the input of the sales teams and medical reps of the Eau Thermale Avène brand, which specializes in sensitive skin and is the leading dermo-cosmetics brand in France. The aim is to increase recognition of MÊME products in oncology departments and pharmacies, and above all to make all health professionals aware of the cutaneous toxicity of cancer treatments, thus enabling them to provide patients with adapted advice and solutions.
I had the opportunity to meet Judith and Juliette at a time when we were questioning whether it would be relevant for PFDC to enter into partnership with "Indie" dermo-cosmetic brands. These beauty start-ups are innovative due to the simple fact that they are targeted solely at female consumers.
Our meeting sparked a natural partnership with MÊME, which, like the Pierre Fabre Group, places value on scientific ethics and on the importance of the relationship with the prescriber and the consumer. This partnership with Judith and Juliette also enables us to continue Mr. Fabre's tradition of entrepreneurial generosity and to establish a shared history in the interests of patients and consumers, with the idea of developing value over the long term rather than just taking on easy projects.

Last summer, we met Eric Ducournau, CEO of PFDC, who told us the story of Pierre Fabre Laboratories and gave us a better understanding of the Group, its values and the Eau Thermale Avène brand in particular.
What we heard struck a chord with all of us, and the symbiosis between our two brands, one a very new start-up, the other a leader in the dermo-cosmetics market, was clear. The story behind the creation of both brands is very personal and both brands demand expert product quality and share a deep desire to work closely with patients. These are the reasons why Eric Ducournau and Núria Perez-Cullell, Brand Manager of Eau Thermale Avène, decided to reach out to us.

A partnership focused on improving patient quality of life
In February 2017, MÊME launched a comprehensive and adapted range of 13 products formulated to improve the comfort of patients undergoing cancer treatments. Judith and Juliette developed new solutions to treat the adverse effects of cancer treatments on the skin, such as itchy scalp, hand-foot syndrome or brittle nails. The products were formulated using ingredients rigorously selected to create a range worthy of the loyalty of the most vulnerable women. The range has already won over thousands of women affected by cancer.
Avène Dermatological Laboratories has a wealth of experience spanning more than 25 years and has always put the quality of life of patients and consumers first. We are facing a new challenge in 2018: MÊME is starting to become a brand recognized by health professionals working in oncology departments and in retail pharmacies. Through the recommendations of our customers who have become our best ambassadors, we are starting to receive hundreds of requests from doctors, nurses, socio-estheticians, caregivers and retail pharmacists based all over France. All of these people contact us with the aim of working with us to improve the quality of life of cancer patients.
